There is one section composed of cobblestones to give a different feel underfoot. In the centre of this area is a compass made from different coloured cobbles, so that users can get a perspective of directions, to perhaps home. Timber has been used in some locations, again to create more texture and laser cut artwork of creatures and symbols is affixed to the timber at various locations.
Planting throughout the garden was carefully thought out to provide various smells, textures, and shapes, all to stimulate the senses. There is a dry river of stone contrasting with purple slate also to provide interest and stimulus. A water feature is included, and this consists of a stone globe with the continents etched onto it. The atmosphere in this space is one of peace and calm, separate but adjacent to the bustle of campus life.
The result has been the creation of a garden which is used and enjoyed by many students and staff.
