City Garden Galway
Our Challenge
An old semi detached house in Galway city recently renovated to very high standard, modern & contemporary in design. The rear garden sloped away from the house with a significant change in levels. The clients brief was a space for outdoor living, to enjoy and entertain. Preference for a low maintenance colourful garden and a small area for vegetable planting. Requested a Cordyline tree in memory of their mother.
The Result
The design consists of two entertaining areas, the upper patio closest to house with steps down to the lawn. Stepping stones lead you through the lawn inviting you down to a lower sunken patio with retaining walls surrounded with mixed ornamental planting with seasonal interest. Beyond the mixed border there is an Elaeagnus Hedge which in time will screen off a domestic area for clothesline etc. There are two raised vegetable borders for kitchen gardening and a bespoke garden shed.
